Hey everyone, Doc Miles. I'm going to go over how to properly apply a pressure dressing. I've identified a wound. I believe I can control the bleeding just with a pressure dressing, and it doesn't need a tourniquet. I'm going to take my pressure dressing. There's a little bit of Hook and Loop right here. I'm going to peel that off.
Don't put that side towards the wound. That side goes toward the wound, right? So I'm going to apply that, put pressure over it. I'm going to pull so I get a little bit of a stretch. I'm going to tuck under. Pull, stretch, and I'm going to continue to do that as I wrap around. Now, I like to go downside, so the distal side, and then work my way back up.
So it's important, remember, you want to apply nice firm pressure, but you don't want to go so tight that you create a tourniquet effect on the leg and start cutting off blood supply. There's a piece of Hook and Loop that I can either use that hook and loop to hold, or I can take the entire piece and I can tuck it under my last wrap, so it's nice and tight.
